    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Vice President of Administration and Business Development at a university typically plays a strategic leadership role that involves overseeing administrative functions, supporting institutional growth, and fostering partnerships with external entities.     • Lead the university’s administrative operations, ensuring alignment with the institution’s long-term goals and mission.

    • Identify new revenue streams and business opportunities, both on and off-campus, that contribute to the financial sustainability and growth of the university.

    • Develop and implement policies and procedures that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the university’s administrative functions.

    • Work closely with the president and other senior administrators to support university wide goals and enhance overall operational efficiency.

    • Oversee key administrative areas such as human resources, facilities management, information technology, and campus services.

    • Assist in the development and management of the university's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and promoting cost-saving initiatives.

    • Ensure the university adheres to legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, addressing any potential risks that could impact operations or reputation.

    • Work on streamlining operations and improving processes within the administrative and business units of the university.

    • Build and sustain strategic relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and other educational institutions to enhance the university's offerings and reputation.

    • Identify funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and sponsorships, to support university programs and growth.

    • Explore and implement entrepreneurial ventures such as research commercialization, extension programs, or partnerships with private enterprises that bring in additional revenue.

    • Oversee the development, maintenance, and planning of the university's physical infrastructure and facilities to ensure a conducive learning and working environment.

    • Lead efforts to enhance the sustainability of campus operations, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and green building initiatives.

    • Supervise human resources policies, including recruitment, professional development, and retention of staff within administrative departments.

    • Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture, with an emphasis on inclusion, diversity, and the professional development of staff.

    • Serve as a key communicator between administration, faculty, staff, and students to ensure transparency and effective decision-making.

    • Represent the university in meetings with government officials, corporate leaders, alumni, and other key stakeholders to enhance the university's profile and secure new business opportunities.

    • Utilize institutional data to track performance, assess the impact of business development initiatives, and make informed decisions.

    • Prepare regular reports for the President, Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders on the status of business development activities, financial health, and operational improvements.

    • Work with other departments to improve student services, such as housing, dining, and campus amenities, ensuring a positive and engaging campus experience.

    • Provide support for faculty recruitment, retention, and professional development initiatives that align with the university’s mission and growth objectives.

    • Play a key role in the university’s response to emergencies, whether financial, administrative, or operational, by implementing contingency plans and managing communication.

    • Ensure that essential administrative functions continue without disruption in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

    • Champion the adoption of new technologies that improve university operations, enhance the student experience, and support remote learning or hybrid models.

    • Identify areas where innovation can be applied to university administration, including the development of new programs, services, or technology-driven solutions.
