Dambi Dollo University and the local community to build Sight Impaired School in Dambi Dollo Town in memory of Mr. Tamiru Nagari (Abbaa Sabaa). The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Dambi Dollo University President, Dr. Leta Tesfaye, Tamiru Nagari’s families, the elders and the zonal and city administrators.
Representing the committee, Girma Mamo briefed the participants on the history of Dambi Dollo town education and the life story of Tamiru Negeri. When the construction of the school is completed, it will not only serve the sight impaired of the zone, but also the four Wollega Zones; He said, it could also serve the Illu Ababor Zone as well as the Gambella and Benishangul Gumuz regions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Leta Tesfaye, President of Dambi Dollo University, thanked the committee for its work. Reminding that the National School for the sight impaired had been established in Dambi Dollo for the first time in history of the country, the school will not only commemorate Tamiru’s good deeds, but also said that it is rebuilding the first sight impaired school of the zone. For the realization of this, Dambi Dollo University will provide all necessary support, the President added.
Gamachis Nagara, head of the Qellem Wollega Education Office, and other elders also attended the ceremony and conveyed their message.
